Miracle City Marvels
Here is what we know about Miracle City:
It is a planned community built by wonders in the 1950s. It was built on the previous site of a ghost town—one of several Coppertowns in the American West—and on several played-out mines. The whole are was owned by a supervillain (Max Mystery) who donated it after some unpleasantness involving the HUAC.
I am currently undecided about the state, but it might be New Mexico, near a Navajo reservation (the Three Corners reservation, commonly known as the rez. For now, the rez is unsketched, because I’d like to do a little research, out of respect for the inhabitants.
It has a higher than normal population of wonders (necessary, given the background rules I have set up). Supers—or “wonders”—can register for additional government benefits. The city offers a one-year voluntary term of service for wonders in return for benefits, but you have to register.
Neighbourhoods are named after presidents. Kennedy contains the most project housing, “George W. Bush, aka Bush Jr aka W” is one of the newest, Eisenhower is considered the economic hub of the city, and Jefferson contains the state college and the privately-funded Miracle University. It also contains the local outlet of ELECTRON Labs, which produces many technological marvels and employs a number of MU grads.
